You can help veterans of Maine and their families by donating during a free hot meal with great company!

Veterans Count, the philanthropic arm of Easterseals Military and Veterans Service Program, is hosting a spaghetti supper Tuesday, March 20th in Bangor to raise money for veterans of Maine.

The group's mission is to provide financial assistance and services when no other resource is available to veterans, service members and their families to ensure their dignity, health and overall well-being.

They provide free services to vets and their families by providing financial resources for rent, food, gas and oil, as well as, support and counseling for employment, mental health, deployment and substance abuse.

Here is a testimonial of how the group has helped a Maine Veteran get through her tough times after serving in the army:

The group started in 2013 and has just opened a new office in Bangor after being based in Portland since it's inception.

The event will take place in Bangor at the Hope Lutheran Church at 1520 Union Street starting at 5 PM.  Tickets will be available at the door with a suggested donation of $10.

All of the money raised stays right in Maine and will support Maine Military members and their families.

Where does your money go?  The group states the money contributes to the following:

  • $1000 initial deposit for housing
  • $600 - $800 car repair
  • $250 for a bed
  • $150 for a work suit for a job or interview

The list continues for the help the group puts towards our Veterans including contributions towards bills, groceries, and help with co-pays for care.
