Maine Coast Cinemas in Ellsworth To Close Jan.19

Maine Coast Cinemas in Ellsworth posted on their Facebook page that they will be closing for good after Monday, Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Day. They didn't go into in depth reasoning, but did say it was a variety of reasons.

The closest movie theaters now are Reel Cinema in Bar Harbor, Bangor Mall Movie 10 Cinemas, Spotlight Cinemas in Orono and Hollywood Cinemas on the Odlin Road in Bangor. The Criterion Theater in Bar Harbor is undergoing a multimillion dollar renovation and will be reopening in May 2015. Thanks to Fred Berry who reminded me about The Alamo Theater in Bucksport too!
