Artist Robert Indiana who created the "Love" icon has agreed with the State of Maine to have the image be used in a specialty license plate.Now, The Maine Craft Association hopes to collect enough signatures so that the State will put the process into action.  Two Thousand interested people would have to sign up for that to happen, and they would also have to put down a $25 deposit.  Proceeds would support the arts here in Maine.

Robert Indiana created the Love icon while living in New York City back in the 1960s.  He now resides on Vinalhaven.
