Lowe's announced Monday it would close 51 stores. Maine stores, however, will not be among them.

This story hit the internet today saying that they were choosing to close that are within 10 miles of each other we feared for our local Lowe’s.

It turns out however according to the report that thankfully proximity is not the only determining factor.

They are also judging the performance of each location. We gathered by the list that the stores in Brewer and Bangor must be making their quotas because for now those stores appear to be safe as are in jobs within them.

The reasoning behind the move is to, their words, "improve the overall health of its store portfolio."

Good news for the effected stores employees Lowe's will be doing their best to help find them positions nearby. The stores will be closed before Feb. 1, 2019
