According to a press release from the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, a proposed initiative to end marijuana prohibition has officially qualified to show on the November ballot here in Maine.

The release states, "After a court-ordered review of petitions it had previously invalidated, the Maine Secretary of State’s Office determined the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol submitted more than the 61,123 signatures that were needed to qualify."

David Boyer, who is the campaign manager for the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana like Alcohol said,  " It's time to stop punishing adults for using a substance that is significantly less harmful than alcohol.”

In a recent public opinion poll, the Maine People’s Resource Center found that 54% of the respondents were in favor of legalizing and regulating marijuana for recreational use.
