If we have any snow to work with...

It's been a mild week weather wise leading up to the Maine State Snow Sculpting Championships at the Camden Village Green. No worries though, there's always plenty of snow. Using machines from the Camden Snow Bowl, snow is trucked to town. Sheets of plywood are made into wooden forms, which snow is packed down into. After 3 days of hardening the eight-foot blocks are ready to be sculpted.

The winning team goes on to represent Maine at U.S. Snow Sculpting Championships in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. This year's winner will answer the challenge in 2017. Last year the trio of Amanda Bolduc, Paul Warren, Cathy Thompson won. They will compete next month! Good luck!

Saturday the teams will begin work on their art. It concludes Sunday with judging at noon.

The Maine State Snow Sculpting Championships is a part of the Camden Winterfest which wraps up next weekend with the U.S. Toboggan Championships.
