Popular Portland television sportscaster Bruce Glasier has passed away.

Cancer claimed the beloved WCSH/WLBZ television personality this past Wednesday night.  He was 69.

Glasier retired in 2012 after 35 years on the air.  His down home image, good nature and fine local sports reporting is what made him a very familiar face here in Maine.

According the a story on the WCSH website Bruce Glasier "had a passion for the Maine Guides, U-Maine, USM, the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, New York football Giants, and of course, his beloved Portland Bulldogs."

NewsCenter anchor Jackie Ward Tweeted today, "Why does cancer seem to take the ones who bring so much joy to so many?  Bruce, you were simply the best."
