A Houlton man was arrested after a meth lab was discovered in a truck in Ellsworth Tuesday night, according to Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland.

Micah McGillicuddy, 27, has been charged with aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, McCausland said in a news release on Wednesday.

The meth lab was discovered after Ellsworth police officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked along a private road, off Route 180, the release said.

McGillicuddy allegedly fled into the woods after police found him in the truck.

The suspect was taken into custody after Ellsworth police officers, Maine State Police troopers and deputies from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office spent the night searching for him.

After spending the night in the woods, McGillicuddy was transported to the hospital in Ellsworth as a precaution.

In a separate incident on Wednesday, deputies from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office discovered a suspected meth lab in Milford, McCausland said.

MDEA agents have now responded to 43 meth related incidents this year, an all-time high, the release said.
