The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce has named Michelle Beal as its 2015 Citizen of the Year.

The former City Manager had worked 20 years for the City before recently moving along to take a position as the chief operating officer at the Rudman and Winchell law firm in Bangor.

Beal started in treasurer’s office in 1995 before eventually working her way to the City Manager's position.  Under her guidance and leadership, several very big projects within the city were completed, such as the new Elementary Middle school, a new waste-water treatment plant, the Moore Community center and the Knowlton Park project, which will be completed this summer!

Ellsworth Library Director Charlene Churchill summed it up with “the most important reasons that Michelle deserves this honor is that she epitomizes what Maine needs: a person who was born and educated here, and chooses to stay and work here to make it a better place to live”.

Michelle Beal will be presented with the Citizen of the Year Award at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting on May 21st..
