Motley Crue Commercial to Debut During the Grammys
They aren't up for any awards and they won't be performing during the ceremony, but Motley Crue will still make their presence felt during this year's Grammys.
How, you ask? Courtesy of Coldwell Banker Real Estate. During the broadcast, the firm will debut a new commercial titled 'Home Sweet Home' that pictures happy homeowners to the strains of the band's 1985 lighter-raising power ballad. You can watch it above.
Claiming that the spot will "convey how each of us from all walks of life experience that feeling of coming home," Coldwell Banker senior VP Sean Blankenship enthused, "I say it's time we all take a moment and reflect on what 'Home' truly means. A place of celebration. A monument of great memories. A moment of tribute to those who help protect our home every day! That is home sweet home."
Although today it's one of the band's signature songs, 'Home Sweet Home' wasn't originally much of a hit, peaking at No. 89 during its initial release. In fact, as Nikki Sixx later revealed, the band's label didn't even want the song included on the 'Theatre of Pain' album. "They said, ‘No way, no way,'" he recalled. "So we funded it, we shot the video ourselves, went on MTV and the rest is history."
Remixed and reissued for the 'Decade of Decadence' hits collection in 1991, 'Home Sweet Home' finally cracked the Top 40, capping the band's platinum era with one last big single. In 2009, country star Carrie Underwood recorded her own version, which went all the way to No. 21 on the pop chart.
