A self-employed drywaller from Clifton is battling cancer and, with no health insurance, the bills are piling up. So family, friends, and local musicians are holding a benefit to help out.

Gene 'Peanut' Parent is said to a great guy. Local musician Randy Blevins says he's the kind of guy who's always doing for others. He's always worked hard and kept a smile on his face.

But now, he can't work. In November of last year, Peanut was diagnosed with aggressive inoperable prostate cancer and, later that month, learned that it had spread to his bones.  It's a very painful combination of cancers and is keeping him from working or doing much of anything else.

So, his family and friends decided to throw him a party. On Saturday, April 12th, from Noon to 6pm, a fundraiser and celebration of Peanut's 55th birthday will be held on the Upper Level of the Eagle's Lodge, 22 Atlantic Avenue in Brewer.

The fundraiser will include live music provided by Not Quite Rite, the Daddy Del Droolers, Instigator, 5 Wheel Drive, Ranger Revisited, the 2nd Chance Band, and the Rick Carter Band! There will also be a silent auction, raffles, and a large buffet. The suggested donation is $10 at the door.

If you're interested in making a donation for the auciton, a food contribution, or a cash donation, email Venise at vbard@masiello.com. We hope you can stop by!
