Yesterday I took a stroll down the bike/walking trails at the brand new Schoodic Wood Campground!

The new Campground has only been open for a while, and as a matter of fact is closes today for the season. But I just wanted to pass along what great trails they have constructed for walking and especially biking!

The trails are nice and wide and also hard, but covered with fine stone.  They're well marked with numbered signs every mile or so that clearly point in the direction of your destination.  It's real hard to get lost.  Make sure that you get a map while at the main building.

You'll see the entry sign for the Schoodic Woods Campground not long after entering the Schoodic Peninsula, just take a left and park in the huge parking lot. You will need an Acadia National Park pass in order to park while the Campground is open.

The beautiful new main building overlooks the parking area, and it will be manned by a ranger when the campground is open.  You'll see the beginning of the walking/biking trails to the right of the restrooms.

The trail to the Frazier's Point picnic area  is about seven tenths of a mile.  The trails to the other side of the Peninsula is about two miles long, eventually splitting and coming out at two different exits, Wonsqueak or Bunker's Harbor.

The park ranger told me that the bottom parking lot will be plowed this coming winter and that folks are welcome to use the trails for either walking or cross country skiing.

Of course find your way to the Point to make your trip complete!
