Just before last year's NFL draft, Alfonzo Dennard was arrested and accused of punching a cop outside of a bar in Lincoln Nebraska.  This morning a jury returned a guilty verdict of third degree assault of a police officer.  In addition to the felony assault charge, Dennard was convicted on a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. He was acquitted on a misdemeanor charge of assaulting another man.

Dennard was suppose to be selected early in the NFL draft, but after his arrest he sunk to the seventh round, where he was selected by the New England Patriots.  He had three interceptions while playing cornerback for the Pats this past year.

After today's conviction, Dennard now faces up to six years in prison and a suspension from the NFL.  His sentencing is set for April 11th.
