NE Patriots’ CB Alfonzo Dennard Gets 30 Days In Jail

Sentencing day has come for New England Patriots' cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, and it looks like he and the Pats have made out pretty well.  Dennard was sentenced this morning in a Nebraska courtroom to 30 days in jail and  two years probation for punching a cop outside of a bar in Lincoln back in April of 2012. He was found guilty in February of felonious assault of a police officer, and had faced a maximum of six years in jail.

He’s also barred from any travel that isn’t between Massachusetts and Nebraska or related to work with the Patriots without getting prior approval from the court.

Bill Belichick and the Patriots chose Dennard in the seventh round of last year's NFL draft.  He was viewed as a second round pick until his arrest just one week prior to the draft.

The 23 year old emerged as a budding star in the defensive secondary late last season, teaming up with veteran Aqib Talib.

The NFL is reviewing the situation, but it doesn't seem likely that it will take any action because the offense took place before he joined up with the New England Patriots.

Looks like he'll definitely be on the field for the season.
