With homeowner's local property tax bills going up almost each and every year, it's nice to get some good news for a change!

As of April 1st, Maine's Homestead Exemption will be increased from $10,000 to $15,000!  If you have owned your property for the past twelve months and you call it your permanent residence, then your home's assessed value can be decreased by $15,000 when it comes to your property tax bill.  Not bad!  We'll take it! For more information on how to do so go HERE!

Also, if you are a veteran and served in the Vietnam War for any length of time, you now are eligible for a $6000 exemption on the assessed value of your home.  Prior to the change on April 1st, you would have had to served up to 180 days in the war.  More information on all veteran's exemptions can be found HERE!
