My wife and I are huge fans of the Bangor City Forest, and in particular, the Orono Bog Walk. We go to the forest quite a bit an no trip is complete without a nice sojourn through the bog. It's one of the coolest spots in all of the greater Bangor area. The views are stunning, and the wildlife is fun to check out. especially in late spring / early summer when the weather really starts to cooperate and showcase all the flora and fauna that the bog has to offer.

Sadly, it's getting later in the year, and here we are in September and the City Forest announced it's beginning their late summer / early fall hours, which now means the Bog Walk will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Come October 1st, the hours will change again, switching to 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and then one last time in November it will switch from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

That will continue through November 30, or until the first snowfall, whichever comes first. then December 1.....it's all over for the year until the next spring when it opens up again on May 1.

And of course, please respect the rules of the City Forest. These times are set up for your safety as much as anything. Not to mention, with the recent rash of vandalism on the forest trails signs, being in there after hours could lead to you possibly being accused of things that have absolutely nothing to do with you.

In the meantime, I definitely urge you to get out and enjoy the City Forest and Bog Walk before the season comes to an end altogether. It really is one of the most inspiring and gorgeous parts of our fair city. So enjoy it now!
