A New York man has been arrested in connection with the shooting deaths of an Augusta couple on Christmas day. Police say the killings are drug-related.

Maine State Police, working with the Kennebec Sheriff's Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, arrested a New York man Tuesday afternoon and charged him with murder in connection with the Christmas morning shooting deaths of a young Augusta couple. David W. Marble Jr., age 29 of Rochester, New York was arrested after a car, in which he was a passenger, was stopped by Augusta Police near the State Street Rotary.

He's charged with the deaths of Eric Williams and Bonnie Royer, who were shot inside their SUV along Sanford Road in Manchester. Police say either Williams or Royer called 911 before dawn Christmas Day, but both occupants passed way before officers arrived. The couple lived together on Easy Street in Augusta, less than a mile from where they died.

Marble, who's been living in an apartment at 28 Sewell Street in Augusta, is charged with two counts of murder and detectives say the shootings were drug-related. He was taken to the Kennebec County Jail and is likely to make his first court appearance either Wednesday or Thursday in Augusta.
