Old School Rockers from Portland Take Over Bangor for Record Store Day
Caution: This music may result in head banging.
Record Store Day is an annual event that began in 2007 and is held on the third Saturday of April every year to celebrate the culture of independently owned record stores, which are a rarity these days. This day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent records stores across the world!
Many local record stores hold live performances from local bands in store on this day. This record store day you can expect a real treat at the Bangor Bullmoose store! If you visit the store this Saturday you will get a taste of some of Maine's best old school rock and roll from Portland natives, Hessian. Headbanging black magic boogie music is the best way they describe it. With tunes like "Cloven Lady" and "Funeral Disco" it's hard not to head-bang along! Their rock and metal influences like Judas Priest, Motorhead, Black Sabbith, and Thin Lizzy are nothing but inspiration as this band has a sound all of its own.
Hessian is headed by twins Angus and Salli who blow me away every time I see them! Between Salli's vocals and the fancy finger work Angus does on his beautiful guitar they are two of the most talented musicians I have seen in this area in a long time! You can get a sneak peek of what you'll hear Saturday below, and upcoming show dates are listed on their Facebook. They will take over the Bullmoose store at 2PM this Saturday.
Lots of artists release special editions or limited copies of their records on this day as well. Some of the albums you can look for this Saturday are:
Johnny Cash- Koncert V Praze
The Doors- Strange Days
Bob Dylan- The Basement Tapes
Foo Fighters- Songs From The Laundry Room
Grateful Dead- Wake Up to Find Out
Jethro Tull- Live at Carnegie Hall
Willie Nelson- Teatro
The White Stripes- Get Behind Me Satan
