Penobscot County Sheriff's Deputies and Maine State Police Troopers responded to a report of a 'medical call' and a man with a gun. TV-5 reports a man on East Court in Carmel got into an altercation with someone before police arrived. He then produced a firearm and shot off some rounds.

There's no word on how long the standoff lasted, but police say they ordered the man to put down the firearm several times. No further information has been released other than that a male was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
