Whether you consider yourself a baker or not this trip into gingerbread fantasy land should make you smile.

This free annual Gingerbread Spectacular from the Boothbay Opera House is fun and competitive and will be open for your enjoyment this weekend.

• Most Spectacular among other awards.

Everyone is welcome and does participate in this event from professional bakers to grade school builders and the results are said to be amazing and some times hilarious.

Again, there is no admission fee on Saturday or Sunday however, donations welcome. In addition to the magical structures you'll see at this spectacular there will also be entertainment, cocoa and a bake sale.    These confectionery creations are on display beginning Friday evening at the Dough Ball Preview Party and then throughout the weekend from 10 am – 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
