So many of my friends have iPhones and smartphones, and I can see all the great reasons to have one. They are a GPS. They take great pictures. You’d have instant access to tons of information like who was president in 1942, and what constellation is over your head and on and on. I get that.

However...For one, I cannot even begin to imagine paying the monthly cost that go along with having one. For two, I don’t see myself a being any better than my friends at putting the blessed thing down and paying attention to my life and loved ones. Plus, without dropping off the grid, I just don’t like being that accessible.

For example, Apple's Find my iPhone feature is just one of many online tools that help you keep track of where your phone is, but it's also possible to use such tools to keep tabs on others. There are even apps now that can be installed on devices that let you monitor people remotely - and more people are doing so.

Research has found that almost half of us admit it's acceptable to track a spouse by electronic means. No thank you. If I want you to know where I am, I’ll tell you. Not that I am hiding. It’s just none of your business.

Good news is Apple doesn't need me anyway.

Reports are Apple's new iPhones hit stores last Friday, and in three days, the company has sold more than 13 million of them. The company says the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be also available in more than 40 additional countries starting next Friday (Oct. 9), important because Apple's iPhone sales account for two-thirds of Apple's revenue.

The 6s starts at $199 and the Plus size starts at $299 (with a two-year wireless contract).

Just sayin.'
