Open Water Fishing Season Starts Tomorrow

After a terrible ice fishing season Maine anglers will be happy to know open water fishing season arrives tomorrow! The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife broke the news on Facebook. Starting Thursday March 17 the season starts, two weeks earlier than normal.

In addition MDIFW amended a regulation that will now allow fishermen to fish bodies of water that where orrigonally closed to open water fishing. That also goes in effect tomorrow. This amendment ends on April 1 2016.

If you take to the water via boat remember to wear a lifejacket! The water is still very cold and can kill you. Nuff said.
