Orono Bog Walk Now Open

It's time to frolic in nature.

Yesterday the Orono Bog Walk opened for the season. The occasion was marked by brief opening ceremony.

The Bog Walk closed early last fall so volunteer crews could begin replacing 48 rotted-out wooden sections of the trail, and three wheelchair turnouts.

Over the past two years volunteers have replaced over 200 deteriorating sections of the mile-long trial. The sections are being replaced with more durable composite decking. It's being paid for by donations and sales of boardwalk merchandise.

The Bog Walk is open from 7AM to 6:30PM.
