Serious bail money was collected yesterday!

The Sea Dog in Bangor was transformed into a jail yesterday. Instead of one phone call, jailbirds got as many as they needed to post bail. 200 community and business leaders where picked up by police, cuffed and 'booked.' Jailbirds, complete with mug shots, then called around to collect enough cash to be bailed out.

All that bail amounted to $58,000, at last count. All the cash helps the Muscular Dystrophy Association. MDA sends the proceeds to Maine family's for medical services, programs and summer camps for kids.

Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive disease that causes certain muscles the atrophy. Their is no cure for MD, however treatments have improved over the years. Like with most diseases research is very expensive. 25 minutes of research costs about $1,500.
