Penobscot Narrows Bridge To Be Inspected
This Thursday, officials from the Maine Department of Transportation will inspect the Penobscot Narrows Bridge to see how it’s holding up. The bridge which carries traffic over the Penobscot River on Route 1 between Prospect and Verona was built in 2006 at a cost of $85 million.
During the inspection of the bridge, there will be intermittent road closures and lane shifts during both the daytime and night time hours. Road closures up to 45 minutes long will begin this Thursday night around 10 and continue until Friday morning at 4.
According to a press release from the MDOT, the survey will be performed to ensure that the bridge is “maintaining it’s desired geometry”.
