The Penobscot Theatre Company will adapt a novel by Stephen King to the stage.

The talented folks at Penobscot Theatre Company are planning to bring Misery to the stage this fall. The King's popular 1987 novel was recently brought to Broadway starring Bruce Willis.

The play was written by William Goldman. Penobscot Theatre Company describes the show:"In this faithful adaptation of a King classic, romance novelist Paul Sheldon is rescued from a car accident by his “Number One Fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads the manuscript to his newest novel and one plot twist leads to another, as Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it. And it does."

The show is slated to run October 12, through November 5.

This will be the first time the adaptation has been preformed in Maine.
