First, this was in New Hampshire, and secondly - it was thanks to a computer crash.

WMTW reports that there was a 'checkout nightmare' that actually turned into the best thing ever for dozens of shoppers at the Hannaford supermarket in West Lebanon, New Hampshire.

All the registers went down around 2 Monday afternoon according to the store manager Shawn Quelch.

According to WMTW, Shawn said the wait could have been up to an hour and lines were starting to stretch down the aisles. So, he decided anyone stuck in line got their groceries free! He said,

The last thing we wanted was for our customers to be waiting for the hour that it was going to take for that to come back up. So we kind of made the decision to just let those folks have the groceries they had selected and be on their way.

He thinks it ended up being around $3,000 and $5,000 they gave away. But, most people walked away thinking that Hannaford was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

They certainly could have walked away thinking that it was the worst experience they have ever had...ever.
