Police on Monday identified the boy who drowned in a pond in St. Albans over the weekend.

The State Medical Examiner's Office has ruled that Maxwell Brawn, 4, died as the result of an accidental drowning.

The investigation and interviews conducted by Maine Game Wardens, Somerset County Deputies, and Maine State Police detectives has supported the findings.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Maine Warden Service and Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence on the Ballad Road in St. Albans regarding a search for Brawn. A ground search was initiated in the immediate area of the boy’s residence.

A State Police trooper K9 team attempted to track while other ground searchers looked in wooded areas surrounding the house. Clues led to a farm pond next door on property owned by the boy’s uncle. As a result, the Maine Warden Service Dive Team responded. Game warden divers entered the water and recovered the boy’s body at approximately 6:50 p.m. in seven feet of water.

No charges are expected in this case.
