Police are searching for a 16-year-old girl who was last seen Thursday afternoon, when she left her Fort Fairfield home.

Tyana McLaughlin may still be in the area, possibly hiding out in Washburn or Caribou, the Fort Fairfield Police Department said Friday.

Police said the girl's mother, Nicole Leseure, spoke with her daughter on the phone the night she went missing, but the two haven't spoken to each other since then.

"Officers, concerned for her well-being, have been gathering information and following up on leads," police said on Facebook.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Fort Fairfield Police Department at 532-5400.
