Police in Northern Maine are asking for the public's help identifying an elderly woman who struck a 6-year-old boy when the child ran out in front of her.

Sergeant Jeffrey Clark of the Maine State Police say the boy sustained non-life threatening injuries when he ran out into the roadway on South Shore Road in Madawaska Lake TWP on Friday. A white sedan police say may have been a Chevy Malibu, driven by an elderly woman, hit the child. The driver stopped and got out, to check on the boy before the child's grandmother then took him to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Police are looking for information about the identity of the driver. They say Troopers don't believe there was any ill-intent on the driver's part, but they do need her information in order to complete the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Maine State Police Troop F at (207) 532-5400 and ask for Trooper Travis Luce, who is the primary investigating officer.
