This month Coastal Living Magazine is featuring its "Best Of Summer" issue, and besides writing about stuff like summer hats, books, vacations, and frosted drinks, they're also pitting coastal towns against one another.  One competition is Port Townsend, Washington vs. Bar Harbor, Maine.  Gee, which town should we vote

for?

Now Port Townsend sounds like a wonderful place, sort of like Bar Harbor.  It sits at the end of a peninsula, it has beautiful natural scenery, a state park, it's a maritime center, pretty Victorian buildings line the streets, and it hosts a lot of artistic events.  But I ain't votin' for it.

Bar Harbor on the other hand is home to a college, two fabulous laboratories, two town greens that host artistic events, numerous hotels and restaurants, a picturesque fishing community, unique shops, a national park, and very friendly people.  Bar Harbor is certainly a small piece of paradise.

So I'm voting for a place that is always a thrill to go to, even in the dead of winter.  Bar Harbor!

As of this writing, Bar Harbor has 57% of the votes!  Keep 'em coming!
