Should Bangor do the same?

Last night the Portland City Council passed a new ordinance that bans smoking e-cigarettes in public places. This means smokers of e-cigs or vaporizers will have to follow the same laws that apply to other tobacco products. It takes effect in 30 days.

Opponents to the ban say vaping is a tool to help smokers quit smoking, and doesn’t pose any risks public safety. Others say vaping sends the wrong message to teens.

Portland is the 275th city or county in the country to ban public vaping.
