POrTland legalized it. Now York?

The Marijuana Policy Project was busy collecting signatures outside of polling locations during the primary elections June, 10th. They are seeking to legalize marijuana for recreational use in York, Lewiston and South Portland.

Petitioners collected an estimated 200 signatures in York. That's double the amount needed to send the petition to the selectmen for their consideration for the November ballot.

As for the effort in Lewiston, an estimated 350 of the 859 signatures needed have been collected. 200 of the 950 signers needed in South Portland have been collected so far.

The proposal is similar to Portland’s ordnance and will be primarily symbolic. It would make it legal for those over 21 to posses up to one ounce of pot, 1.5 ounces less than the Portland ordnance.
The Marijuana Policy Project will seek statewide legalization of marijuana in November 2016.
