Bangor Police and MDEA agents arrested five people this week in connection with a crack cocaine operation.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says an investigation has been ongoing into a group MDEA officials say is responsible for the distribution of crack cocaine and other drugs in greater Bangor for several months. The investigation included alleged undercover purchases of crack from members of the group. Late Thursday afternoon, agents and Bangor Police stopped a car along South Park Street, containing the five suspects.

Seized in connection with that stop were approximately 135 grams of cocaine base, or 'crack,' approximately 8 grams of MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy), and $1,200 in cash. The crack cocaine has a street value of $20,000.

The following people have been charged and are expected to make their first court appearance on Friday:

  • Richard Raymond, AKA 'Porter', age 23 of Boston, Massachusetts. Raymond is charged with 2 counts of Class 'A' Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W drugs (crack) and Class 'B' Unlawful Possession of Schedule W Drugs. The first count is aggravated due to the amount of drugs seized and the second count because he has a prior felony drug conviction. Raymond was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Maine for unpaid fines for an earlier drug offense. In addition, he's wanted in Massachusetts for auto theft.
  • Lakeem McFadden, AKA 'Santana,' age 32 of Brockton, Massachusetts. McFadden has been charged with 2 counts of Class 'A' Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (crack cocaine) The first count is aggravated due to the amount of drugs seized and the second count because he has a prior felony drug conviction.
  • Taleek McFadden, AKA 'Peasley' and 'Dante,' age 27 of Brooklyn, New York. McFadden is charged with Class 'A' Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (crack cocaine). This count is aggravated due to the amount of drugs seized. McFadden is also wanted on an outstanding federal probation warrant out of New York for cocaine trafficking.
  • Patrick Whipple, age 37 from Bangor. Whipple is charged with 2 counts of Class 'A' Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (crack cocaine) The first count is aggravated due to the amount of drugs seized and the second count because he has a prior felony drug conviction.
  • Katherine White, age 63 of Hampden. She is charged with Class 'B' Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (crack cocaine) and Class 'D' Possession of Schedule W Drugs.
