A reward is being offered for information that leads to the conviction of the person who shot and killed a doe that was pregnant with twin fawns.

Warden Service Corporal John MacDonald says the adult doe was shot and killed in St. Albans at around 9 p.m. on January 8th. The doe was collared as part of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife winter severity study on white-tailed deer. IF&W biologist Kyle Ravana received the mortality reading from the GPS tracking collar early the next morning.

Ravana determined that the doe was pregnant with twin fawns, which would have been born in the spring or early summer. The cause of death was a single gunshot wound. He notified the Maine Warden Service that the doe had been killed in a field near the intersection of Corinna Road and Nokomis Road in St. Albans.

Maine Operation Game Thief has offered to pay up to $1,000 to anyone who comes forward with information that convicts the person or persons responsible. Maine Game Wardens are asking that anyone with information to please call the Augusta Public Safety Dispatch Center at (207) 624-7076.
