Rick Pinette, a pastor of ministries in both Florida and Missouri and formerly the lead vocalist of the popular band Oak that played in Maine in the late '70s and '80s, has died.

Pinette passed unexpectedly on Sunday, March 20, according to the Berlin Daily Sun. He was 63. He leaves his wife, Cheryl, a daughter, Olivia, one brother and two sisters.

Rick Pinette gained popularity in the Bangor area over three decades ago when he fronted Oak. They had three songs enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart between 1979 and 1980 including "King of the Hill."

Before the band officially split, Oak played a farewell concert at the Bangor Auditorium in 1981.  The late Bill Chinnock was the opening act.
