I remember one year when I was leaving work for Christmas, the last song I heard was Johny Mathis "Marshmallow World" which for the record I can't stand and did that stupid think torment my mind for the next two days.  I am sure you know the feeling since getting a song stuck in your head is no modern conundrum. It’s been happening for a long time! Now researchers report from the University of Reading reports that the ordinary act of chewing gum might help alleviate the burden.

They've concluded from the study of about 100 participants that the repetitive jaw motion behind gum chewing helped participants stop hearing the song they'd just listened to, giving them a 33% greater chance of getting it out of their heads.
