Second Man Indicted for Home Invasion Burglaries in 3 Towns

Cushman, Cressey (Bangor PD)

A Bangor man has been indicted for multiple home invasion burglaries in three towns in April of this year. His alleged accomplice has already been charged and pleaded not guilty.

Randall Cressey, age 23 of Bangor was indicted this week for a total of 15 counts of Burglary, 16 counts of Theft by Unauthorized Taking, and one count of Burglary of a Motor Vehicle in connection with burglaries in Orrington, Bangor, and Veazie.

Police say the suspects in the case walked through unlocked doors into homes, often with the owners sleeping nearby,  and stole anything they could get their hands on. The crime spree prompted police to issue warnings about locking your doors at night, even when you’re home. In at least one case, the homeowner heard the robbers, who fled when the homeowner saw them.

Also charged in this case is William Cushman, age 22 of Brewer, who faces 15 counts of Burglary, 16 counts of Theft by Unauthorized taking, and one count of Burglary to a motor vehicle. In addition, he’s charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. Cushman was in court earlier this month and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Both Cushman and Cressey face up to 10 years in prison for each burglary charge and up to $20,000 in fines.

Bianca Trask, 19 of Brewer, Courtney Braley, 18 of Bangor, and a juvenile male of Bangor were also arrested in connection with this case. The investigation was a collaboration between Bangor,Brewer, and Veazie Police, and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
