Second Zumwalt-Class Stealth Destroyer Christened in Bath

Who ever is on the receiving end of this destroyer is going to need a bigger boat...and nine lives.

On Saturday in Bath the DDG 1001 Michael Monsoor was christened in front of more than 1,500 spectators. According to the Portland Press Herald, the second Zumwalt stealth destroyer is named after Navy SEAL Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Monsoor. In 2009 he was killed in Iraq when he jumped on an enemy grenade to absorb the blast.

According to Bath Police 12 protesters were arrested outside of the ceremony. The group of anti-war protesters sat in the middle of Washington street, blocking traffic. They were warned to get out of the street several times, but didn't. All the individuals were charged with obstructing a public way.

They will appear in court later this summer.

Bath Police added everyone arrested was 'cooraptive throughout the arrest and booking process.'
