Several people injured in a Thursday afternoon accident near mile marker 106 on Interstate 95 near Augusta. A car carrying guns and ammo reportedly burst into flames after hitting a truck.

A tractor trailer slowing down in traffic was rear-ended by the car shown in the photo. The car was carrying two handguns and 40 rounds of ammunition. When the car caught fire, the ammo went off, complicating the situation. Four more cars then crashed into them, resulting in a six-car pile-up.

Injured in the crash were the car's driver, Travis Veilleux, 20 of Winslow, and passenger, Stephanie Pleau, 20 of Vassalboro who were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, as was the truck's driver. No other injuries have been reported.

Police continue to investigate the accident but say that Veilleux will likely be charged for causing the crash.
