Work continues on the Outer State Street project in Ellsworth including the replacement and installation of larger culverts at Davis Brook, at both State Street and Shore Road.  Installing a larger culvert on State means that more water will flow towards the Union River, eventually dumping into Leonard Lake.  So, workers this coming week will also be replacing the small culvert downstream at Davis Brook on the Shore Road, prompting that roads closure for about a week.

Beginning at 6 a.m. this coming Monday, the 19th, Shore Road will be closed to through traffic.  The road will remained closed until sometime on Friday, the 23rd.

Of course those that live on Shore Road will still have access to their property.  Enter Shore Road via Route 1A/outer State Street if you live to the north of Davis Brook.  Enter via Forest Avenue or off State Street out by Knowlton Park is you live to the south.

Wildlife officials have hope that eventually fish will make their way up Davis Brook.

The Shore Road is very popular among those that walk or run for exercise.  It's probably not a good idea to use that road during the closure.
