Skowhegan Woman Dies From Fire Injuries

A Skowhegan woman has died from injuries she sustained earlier this month in a fire.

The State Fire Marshal's office says 53-year-old Michelle Sweet died last week at Maine Medical Center. She was injured on December 5th in a fire that started when she was smoking while on oxygen. Sweet escaped the home on Hilltop Drive and was found outside by her car.

This is the 20th fire death of the year in Maine.
