Friends and family of a young man who is battling back from a brain injury are holding a fun evening on his behalf. Andrew Stearns was hurt while working with an ATV in his yard. He's out of the hospital now but is still doing physical and speech therapy to get back all of the abilities damaged by the accident.

His wife’s cousin, Shannon Ford, says it was a scary accident and Andrew was lucky that several agencies and individuals came to his aid quickly which helped him to survive.

"It was quite scary. He was very lucky that his wife, Angelina was standing in the yard with him. He had his cellphone in his pocket and she called for help. Eddington fire and rescue was out in Clifton, where they live, and a man passing by stopped and helped immediately."

Friends and family have organized a spaghetti dinner to help cover his medical costs and will also hold both a silent and a dessert auction. They also have raffle tickets for sale. All the proceeds from the event will help the family cover Andrew's mounting medical expenses.

The dinner will be held on Saturday, September 28th beginning at 5:30 at the Penobscot County Conservation Clubhouse on North Main Street in Brewer. Andrew is a member of the PCCA.

Items are still being accepted for the auction and the raffle. Anyone interested in donating items can contact Shannon at 356-2623.

If you're unable to make the dinner but would like to make a monetary donation, you can send it to Andrew's Mom, Janice Stearns, 72 Nolan Road, Holden, ME 04429.
