The wonderful "no-kill" facility on the Bar Harbor Road in Ellsworth houses many dogs and cats waiting for adoption, and if you haven't stopped by already, you should do so on Saturday, October 8th, for their big Open House!

It happens between 11 and 3, and will include a “Furs & Fenders” car and dog wash to clean away the summer grime and get  your vehicle and pooch ready for fall! The price depends on the size of your pet and your car.

There will also be micro-chipping and nail trimming for your pets, as well as cotton candy, snow cones and bake sale treats for humans!

The LOONS (Lovers of Old and New Stories) Storytelling Guild will be on hand sharing tales and helping kids of all ages make their very own sock puppet pets.

“Come spend the afternoon with us,” said Diana de los Santos, director of the SPCA. “Get your car and your dog clean while creating some puppets with the kiddos and enjoying some treats. We will also be giving tours of the shelter. The open house is a great opportunity to come see what your local no-kill shelter is all about.”

The SPCA of Hancock County is located on Route 3, the Bar Harbor Road, in Trenton, and houses hundreds of dogs and cats every year!  Make sure that you check out this week's I-95 Pet Of The Week!  Hopefully he'll have a new home by the time that you get to the open house next week!
