I am quite use to seeing Venus in the morning at many times during the year but it will be nice to see her up there with a friend.  If you'd like to see it too astronomers say to keep your eyes on the skies at sunset all this week... the first two “stars” you’ll see in the sky aren’t stars at all. It’ll be Venus and Jupiter. Popular Science says the alignment of Venus and Jupiter happens every few years, sometimes in the morning sky, sometimes in the evening sky. This week, if the skies are clear and you look at the western sky, you’ll be able to clearly see both planets in conjunction, for up to about two hours after sunset.

On Tuesday, June 30th Venus and Jupiter will appear closest in the sky.

Here are some interesting Space-facts, facts about Venus:

  • It is about the same size as the earth.
  • It rotates counter-clockwise
  • It is the second brightest object in the night only second to the moon
  • It is called the morning and the evening star
  • It is the hottest planet in our solar system
