Stephen Stills is set to release a blues album this summer. He’s formed a new trio called the Rides with guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Electric Flag keyboardist Barry Goldberg, and their album ‘Can’t Get Enough’ is set for a July 30 release.

The album was inspired by a 1968 collaboration with Electric Flag’s Mike Bloomfield and Blood, Sweat & Tears keyboard player Al Kooper. The ‘Super Sessions’ album featured Stills’ guitar work on one side, and Bloomfield’s on the other.

Significant covers on the new project include Neil Young‘s ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ and Iggy and the Stooges’ ‘Search and Destroy.’ The three men also spent a lot of time writing new material. “We sat at my house for about five days or so,” Still says in the video below. “It was just really magical with just the three of us…It was one of the best times I’ve had in my musical career.”

Previews of all 10 songs are available at the 429 Records website. Shepherd sings on many songs in addition to adding to the guitar interplay that defines the album.
