If you are like me when by the time the snow continues to fall and pile up and so on in January I start dreaming of lying on a beach with the sun on my face. It sounds so good but it always seem so unrealistic right after Christmas expense. Time we re-evaluate the possibilities my friend. Experts say we can likely afford to jet off on winter vacations and stop missing out. Turns out January is generally the cheapest month of the year to fly. January (and part of February) are referred to as a dead zone for most airlines.

For the ultimate January bargain, fly the three cheapest days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Check out these itineraries (but again, fares can vary by cities and routes).

• Good: Depart Friday, return Sunday

• Better: Depart Tuesday, return Saturday

• Best: Depart Wednesday, return Tuesday

So where we going??

**FYI: When Valentine's Day falls on a weekend as it does this year, getaway flights and hotels tend to be pricier, so consider flying midweek or another weekend for your romantic getaway.
