One man was killed and three other people injured in a three-car crash in Stockton Springs on Monday. The man who died would have turned 80 the very next day.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that it was around 4:40 Monday afternoon when Jacob Smith, 29 was traveling northbound in his Chevy Trailblazer and failed to see a Toyota Corolla being driven by Marcia Evans, 63.

Evans had slowed down and intended to turn onto the Muskrat Farm Road. The Trailblazer struck the Corolla and then careened into the oncoming lane, hitting a Hyundai Elantra being driven by 79-year-old Philip Grindle.

Grindle died at the scene. Three people from the other two cars were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
