Strong Neighborhoods Rally Against Drugs and Crime

Come one, come all says the Bangor Police Department, especially if you'd like to learn how to get a neighborhood watch program started in your community.

The goal behind neighborhood watch programs is to heighten crime/drug-prevention awareness, generate awareness of and participation in local neighborhood watch programs, foster neighborhood spirit and solidarity, and most importantly, send a message to criminals that criminal and drug activity will not be tolerated in neighborhoods.

Bangor's National Night Out celebration is being held tonight in Second Street Park and it runs from 6-8pm.

Bangor Police Department’s Community relations Officer Jason McAmbley says the National Night Out Program tonight will feature fun and treats for the kids, like a chance to win a couple of bikes from the national sponsor, and useful  information for parents and you don't have to live in Bangor to participate either.

"We need community members to help us solve the problems a community faces," states Officer McAmbley. "If the community doesn't tell us where the problems are we don't know. We can't be everywhere at once."
