Two events happening at the same time in the same part of Bangor will make traffic very heavy on Sunday afternoon. Motorists headed to either event are encouraged to plan ahead. And those who don't have to be there are advised to steer clear.

You may have heard that the Zac Brown Band is coming to the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion on Sunday evening. The show starts at 7:00 p.m., but the pre-party (for those lucky enough to be invited) will begin at 1:00 p.m.. Parking is always at a premium around concert time, so many people head downtown early to find a spot and wait for the gates to open. Then, of course, there are plenty of people who head down and listen from outside the fences, adding even more pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

What you may not realize is that Bangor High School's graduation is going on at the Cross Insurance Center Sunday afternoon. Graduation begins at 4:00 p.m. with an approximate end time of 6:00 p.m. Add in the fact that people will arrive early to get a good seat, and that means traffic in the Waterfront area of Bangor could be a huge nightmare come Sunday.

Anyone planning to attend Graduation is advised to allow extra travel time. Better to spend a little more time in your seat, enjoying some refreshments, than to arrive late! Doors will open at 3 p.m. for graduation and parking will be available off of Bass Park Boulevard and Buck Street in the Cross Insurance Center lots.

For everyone headed to the Bangor Waterfront on Sunday afternoon, stay alert, avoid distractions, watch your speed, and leave the cell phone in your pocket. Take your patience and good humor, and be courteous to the other drivers. You're all headed out for fun, joyful events. Who cares if it takes you a little longer to get there? The important thing, as our friends in law enforcement are fond of saying, is that you arrive alive.
